Road shot blasting machine application

A road shot blasting machine is a highly efficient device that uses a high-speed rotating impeller to propel steel shot (or wire cut shot) at extremely high speeds onto the road surface, cleaning, roughening, or strengthening the surface through impact and friction. Its applications are very wide-ranging, primarily covering the following areas:

Surface treatment before new road/bridge construction:

Concrete pavement/bridge deck: Removes laitance, cement skin, loose particles, oil stains, and other contaminants, roughening the surface (roughening) to greatly improve the adhesion of subsequent waterproofing layers, asphalt layers, or epoxy coatings to the concrete substrate. This is one of its core and most important applications.

Asphalt pavement: Before laying the second layer of asphalt or overlay, removes the asphalt film (bleeding), dust, loose particles, oil stains, etc., from the surface, also to enhance interlayer adhesion.

Treatment before repairing and renovating existing road/bridge decks:

Removal of old coatings/markings: Efficiently removes old epoxy coatings, paint, hot-melt/cold-painted markings, traffic sign residue, etc.

**Contaminant Removal:** Removes oil stains, grease, tire marks, chemical residues, mold, algae, etc.

**Roughening/Smoothing:** Roughens aged, smooth pavements to restore or create a new rough texture, providing an ideal clean, rough bonding surface for milling overlays, micro-surfacing, ultra-thin wearing courses, crack sealing, pothole repair, and repaving of waterproofing layers or surface layers.

**Oil Bleeding Removal:** Effectively removes the dense, smooth oil film formed by asphalt rising to the surface, restoring the road surface's coefficient of friction.

**Rut Repair Pretreatment:** After milling or before filling rutted areas, shot blasts the repair area and surrounding area to ensure good adhesion between the repair material and the original pavement.

**Bridge Deck Waterproofing Renovation:** Thoroughly removes residue from the failed old waterproofing layer and roughens the concrete surface to prepare for the application of a new waterproofing layer.

**Bridge Deck Waterproofing Renovation:** Removes residual waste from the old waterproofing layer and roughens the concrete surface to prepare for the application of a new waterproofing layer. Waterproofing Projects (Especially Bridge Deck Waterproofing):

As mentioned earlier, shot blasting is the recognized best surface treatment method before laying waterproof membranes or applying waterproof coatings to critical areas such as bridge decks, tunnels, and underground parking garages. It provides a uniform, clean, micro-textured rough surface, ensuring full adhesion between the waterproofing material and the concrete substrate, preventing water seepage, and significantly improving waterproofing effectiveness and durability.

Airport Pavement Maintenance:

Rubber Removal: Rubber deposits left on the runway by aircraft tires during takeoff and landing significantly reduce the pavement's coefficient of friction, affecting flight safety. Shot blasting is the standard method for efficiently removing runway rubber deposits.

Surface Texture Restoration/Anti-skid Treatment: Restores the texture depth of pavement surfaces covered by rubber or naturally worn down, improving anti-skid performance.

Marking Removal: Removes old pavement markings.

Industrial/Commercial Flooring Construction and Renovation:

New Flooring: After pouring concrete, remove laitance and roughen the surface to provide an ideal base for subsequent sealing and curing agents, epoxy flooring, polyurethane flooring, wear-resistant aggregate flooring, etc.

Old Flooring Renovation: Remove old coatings, oil stains, scratches, wear layers, etc., and roughen the surface to prepare for recoating or laying a new flooring system. Particularly suitable for factories, warehouses, parking lots, supermarkets, logistics centers, etc.

Improved Road Surface Skid Resistance:

By precisely controlling shot blasting parameters, a uniform and durable microtexture can be created on road surfaces (especially concrete pavements, bridge decks, ramps, and curves), significantly improving the road surface's coefficient of friction and skid resistance, enhancing driving safety. Commonly used in accident-prone sections, toll booths, ramps, slopes, pedestrian crossings, etc.

Special Application Scenarios:

Tunnel Maintenance: Cleaning tunnel walls to remove fire-retardant coatings, dirt, grease, etc., in preparation for repainting or maintenance.

Sports Stadium Tracks/Fields: Cleaning and roughening surfaces in preparation for laying synthetic running tracks or sports surfaces.

Steel Structure Surface Pretreatment: While primarily used for road surfaces, some equipment can also be used for rust removal, paint removal, and roughening (Sa2.5 grade) of large steel structure surfaces as a pretreatment before painting.

Ramp/Parking Lot Anti-Slip Treatment: Specially designed for anti-slip shot blasting treatment of ramps, garage entrances/exits, and parking lot surfaces.
